Testimonials
Doug's Story

Doug had been working as an accountant for the past eight years; he lives with his wife and three kids. He was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer and the diagnosis meant that he was required to undergo extensive chemotherapy.

Through their financial adviser Doug and his wife took out crisis cover on top of their Term Life cover. When Doug received the news from his doctor, he called his adviser immediately who submitted a claim to his insurance company. His claim was assessed and Doug received a lump sum payment of $250,000. The payment enabled Doug and his wife to pay for his medical fees; mortgage and school fees all of which his income would normally have paid for.

The lump sum payment meant not only that Doug and his family's bills were taken care of, but also meant that Doug could focus all his energies on getting better instead of stressing about financial concerns.

Jane's Story

Jane was employed as a school teacher but stopped working after she was diagnosed in 2003 with Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. Jane contacted her superannuation fund to claim against the Total and Permanent Disablement [TPD] and her insurance adviser to claim against the Trauma Policy. The Trauma Policy claim of $300,000 was paid to Jane within 3 months, however Jane's initial two claims were rejected by the superannuation fund for the TPD claim. After an appeal was lodged with her lawyer the TPD claim was paid out 8 years later.

Diane's Story

Diane worked as a case manager for disadvantaged youth for the Department of Human Services. At 32 she was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. Her diagnosis was good but following months of treatment and discussions with her doctor, her breast cancer got worse and she decided that her health would be better preserved if she stopped work and focused on caring for herself instead of others.

Diane was covered by an income protection policy that paid her $2,500 per month to cover her bills. She also had private health cover which covered some of the medical bills. After 6 months her cancer got worse again and required chemotherapy. The private health cover only covered 30% of the costs although she was still receiving the income protection monthly benefit she was out of pocket $40,000. Fortunately Diane also purchased a $100,000 lump sum Trauma Policy which paid out when she needed it most instead of asking her friends and parents to support her.
